Five Year Housing Land Supply

It is a requirement of the National Planning Policy Framework that each Local Planning Authority (LPA) maintain a five year housing land supply. Whilst most LPAs claim sufficient supply, often analysis of the component sites and planning permissions show that not all are deliverable within the five years.

Where the amount of undeliverable housing land supply creates a five year deficit, most important policies are out of date and there is a strong presumption in favour of residential development.

AAH have a strong track-record of calculating, analysing and proving deficits in five year housing land supply as a means to facilitate residential development on greenfield and brownfield land, often outside of development limits.
